I purchased the DVD because of its compact size, and HDMI port. I have read all the reviews here and have the same problem. In addition, it integrates with my Samsung LCD TV Remote. However, after one year the DVD stopped working. I have had several DVD players for years and have never had any problems. This product should have been recalled, or SAMSUNG should have offered to repair free of charge.
It won't spin a DVD.This is not a case of its failing after a lot of use. So now I had invested $70.It just failed again four months after I got it back (the repair took three weeks).
It was purchased along with a Samsung LCD TV at a discount, but it was not worth the $50 I paid. The first time it failed was about four months after I purchased it. The favorable reviews of this item were written after only a short time of use.I have had the unit for 9 months and it has failed twice.
However, it cost me about $10 for a DVD cleaner (which would not work because the unit will not spin a DVD) and about $10 to ship the unit back to Samsung for repair. The unit would not spin a DVD.
It was "repaired" under warranty (be sure to send in the registration or the warranty period will be shorter than the time to failure). Same problem.
I only play DVDs every few days at most.I am now looking for a new DVD player, but it won't be a Samsung.
When I purchased this in October 2008 it had a 4 star plus rating. 10 months later it stopped working just like so many others have experienced. Thanks to all those who rated it so highly.
Girlfriend and I bought two tv's, and two of these DVD players with the discount. Both DVD plays failed within three months. Read the reviews online, this model is a lemon. It's a crime that Samsung wont refund our money.
Reading other reviews here, I feel comparatively lucky to have gotten 11 months of service out of this little player before it suddenly gave up the ghost. I'd be willing to spend more next time if I thought that would really make a difference, but I see mixed reviews even on much costlier DVD players. What's a consumer to do.
